چکیده
Interaction between microbially induced calcium carbonate precipitation (MICP) and compaction procedures to stabilise raw soil materials has been studied with the aim of producing earthen engineering structures. Initial tests optimise MICP in aqueous medium selected soils were performed. finally applied assess medium-size elements. The main result was that sandy should be compacted before irrigation treatment close existing voids prevent bacterial sweeping, whereas clayey after avoid plugging effect. improved small sand compressive strength by up 32% over value reached alone. However, had no positive effect on coarse an optimum particle size distribution: not able fill large connected first case it caused little void generation due bacteria sporulation second.

Topological structures for modeling engineering design processes
In this paper, a mathematical framework for describing a variety of complex and practical design processes is developed. We demonstrate that our model has the desirable quality of representing several, seemingly distinct, approaches as instances of the same framework. In addition, General Design Theory is shown to be a special case of the proposed framework. Using simple examples throughout the...
متن کاملEarthquake Analysis of Base Isolated Structures Including Soil-Structure Interaction
A frequency domain dynamic analysis is needed to obtain the response of structures constructed on a system of base isolators on flexible soil when subjected to earthquake ground motion. In such systems, the lateral stiffness of the base isolators is so small, compared to the structural stiffness, that in an earthquake attack the fundamental vibration mode dominates the response. With this in mi...
متن کاملNumerical simulation of dynamic soil compaction with vibratory compaction equipment
Roller drums make use of various shapes and their dynamic compaction effect is achieved by different kinds of dynamic excitation systems. The bearing capacity of layered soil constructions can be measured during the soil compaction process. The finite element method has been applied for dynamic analyses using elastic models. For the realistic simulation of the dynamic compaction process it is n...
